Zydeco hot Rods Logo

The Zydeco Hot Rodsplay party music for people who know how to have a good time. They conjure up a hot steamy mixture of 50s and 60s style Zydeco, Rock’n’Roll, Rhythm & Blues and Soul guaranteed to get everyone up on the dance floor.

Zydeco is such a close relative of both Rock’n’Roll and Rhythm & Blues, that when the band kicks in you can hardly see the join, and such labelling of the music seems quite pointless, with songs by Tommy Tucker, Bo Diddley, Clifton Chenier, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Jimmy Reed, Bobby Charles, Lynn August and Big Joe Williams, all finding their way into the band’s Repertoire, together with Rockin’ Sidney’s “Don’t mess with my toot-toot” which was recorded by Denise Lesalle and made the number 1 spot in the U.K. a few years back!

"With show stealing quality and infectious hypnotic rhythms the band will raise the roof and have everyone up dancing ( energy withstanding )"

Multi-instrumentalist Good rockin’ Dave has had years of experience, playing to roots music enthusiasts all over Britain and Europe, together with long standing music partner and drummer Fred Hopwood supporting the likes of Jools Holland, Van Morrison, Debby Harry, Canned Heat and the late Lonnie Donegan, and also playing for and recording with Paul McCartney, amongst others.

On Bass guitar, in true zydeco tradition (keeping it in the family) is son of Good Rockin’ Dave, the truly funky Ben Blant and on Vocals and Electric Guitar is Pete Oakley, who has also had a long successful career as a singer/songwriter and acoustic guitarist, playing major Folk and Blues festivals, all over Europe, as well as releasing a number of albums in his own right.

The Zydeco Hot Rods play a hot steamy mix of Cajun, Rock ‘n’ Roll, Soul, Swamp Pop and Rhythm & Blues with plenty of 50s & 60’s style Zydeco Music from Louisiana.
